For lone workers October 1st 2006 Aware that employees in its marketing suites were vulnerable to verbal and physical abuse, Persimmon Homes' health and safety team looked for a cost effective and efficient means of protecting them. The solution they chose was Peoplesafe, an advanced lone worker safety device from Rocksure Systems. All the company's lone workers in North Yorkshire have been issued with the device. It resembles a normal ID holder, but is packed with mobile phone technology. It enables a lone worker to covertly raise an alarm if threatened and allows a third party to listen to what is happening and to record events - whatever the distance. The device can also support the pinpointing of a worker's location using GSM/LBS technology. Users press an amber alert button to notify their employer when they know they are entering a potentially hazardous situation. If they then have cause to press the red alert, operators at Rocksure's remote monitoring centre retrieve information on their location, listen to what is happening and co-ordinate the appropriate emergency support. |
