Body monitor
June 1st 2007

An advanced, local and remote, body monitoring system has been designed by Hidalgo to protect the lives of individuals working in the field, especially those in high-risk situations.

The company says relatively minor physical traumas can be fatal if not treated within an hour.

By continuously monitoring the welfare of operational personnel and reporting this information via wireless back to a central monitoring point, the Equivital Physiology Monitor enables rapid detection, assessment and medical intervention for individuals sustaining potentially lifethreatening injuries.

The system comprises a range of sensors (for heart rate; respiration; skin temperature; body position; and motion, including impact) in a body-mounted, wireless sensor module.

The chest-mounted sensor monitors vital signs, analyses them and constructs a Physiological Welfare Index (a measure of the wearer's primary cardiorespiratory status and other information), which can be transmitted to a remote monitoring station.
