Specialised scissor lifts
April 1st 2008 A combination of
environmental, engineering
and safety demands has led
logistics provider Wincanton
to choose scissor lifts from
Laweco for double-deck
trailer loading bays at two
major distribution centres.
A protective methane
membrane in the floor of a
Stoke warehouse, operated
on behalf of a high street
retailer on a former landfill
site, required the design and
installation of surface-
mounted 5000kg capacity
lifts. With a closed height of
just 150mm, these needed
no civil engineering works to
install, reducing costs and
offering the possibility of
simple future relocation.
As part of a package of
loading bay equipment
supplied at the NDC it runs
near Tamworth for a DIY
chain, Wincanton has
installed a special Laweco
scissor lift in a dedicated
warehouse built for the
storage of flammable goods.
The lift and all ancillary
equipment equipment
provided exceeded the
requirements of DSEAR 2002
and ATEX Zone 2, and
provided Wincanton with
