Drums get a lift
June 1st 2008

Packline has developed a drum handling system for a Barbados medical creams and ointment manufacturer.

The customer required a purpose-designed drum and drum lifting device which it could use to lift and carry a specified amount of solution mix for its preparation process.

Overall dimension and capacity of the drum were important and the construction needed to be crevice-free and the material 316L stainless steel.

The drums, once filled, hold 150L of solution; they then need to be lifted, transported to the production line, and poured into the processing machinery.

Packline worked closely with a specialist drum manufacturer to achieve the exact design requirements and by adapting the company's stainless steel mobile lifter, the Compac, with a purpose-designed drum clamp attachment.

From initial trials, the company has reported major improvements in productivity.

Packline manufactures a range of bespoke and standard attachments to suit its Compac range of lifters.
