De-palletising load lifters
October 1st 2006

A major High Street clothing retailer has taken another step towards eliminating manual handling by installing two Cobra vacuum load lifters, from Tawi UK, in its European distribution warehouse in Rugby.

Installed on a 3m jib arm at the conveyor end of goods-in, the Cobra depalletises cartons of varying sizes and weights, direct to the conveyor. A scanner reads the barcoded items and sends them to the correct bins for warehousing. A single operative safely and efficiently manages this high speed, continuous operation.

The elimination of manual handling within warehousing and logistics is a common industry aim, due to the increasing health, safety and efficiency concerns associated with manual operations.
