Beating back problems
December 1st 2006

Birch Engineering (Cuffley) has supplied more than 100 scissor lift tables to the Birstall and Morley sites of SigmaKalon, a decorative coatings business.

Various sizes have been supplied to help combat repetitive strain injuries and back problems among workers.

Each production line has two lift tables sited in shallow pits. Empty pallets are loaded with products onto the tables at the end of the conveyor line and lowered to be removed by fork lift truck.

The process obviates the need for the operator to twist or bend while loading product onto the pallet.

Most of the tables provided to SigmaKalon offer a capacity of 2000kg, a 1480 by 1200mm platform and a closed height of 230mm.
