RAW MEAT BOXES MOVED WITH EASE
February 1st 2004

A vacuum tube lifter from Palamatic Handling Systems is contributing to safety at meat packing company Olymel LP in Saint Simon, Canada.

Operating at 4C in two 8h shifts the Pal-U-Lift removes all effort and weight involved in palletising 80lb (36kg) cardboard boxes containing various raw meat products.

Health and safety of operators was the main concern for Olymel, with more than 200 boxes handled every hour for 16h a day, seven days a week.

The Pal-U-Lift unit uses vacuum suction pads in two places on the box. This provides a balanced grip when the box is lifted from roller bed conveyor to an adjacent pallet stack. This is loaded to a height of 1000mm.

Hygiene was another consideration. The system is of FDA-approved materials and stainless steel construction.
