NEW QUALIFICATIONS FOR LIFT TRUCK TECHNICIANS
February 1st 2005

New technical qualifications designed specifically for lift truck technicians have been introduced by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

Carrying Goverment funding for those under 25 and on apprenticeships, the new qualifications cover areas from lift truck construction and routine maintenance through to advanced power shift transmission systems, advanced engine operations, auxiliary systems and complex diagnosis.

Training is delivered through IMI’s approved assessment centres, including Finning UK, the first company to integrate them into its apprentice training programme.

Candidates undertake IMI practical assessments, employer-devised internal assessments and a series of multiple-choiced tests
