Vehicle loader that safely shifts shoes

A heavy duty vehicle loader from Owens Conveyor Company is helping with the task of loading and unloading container vehicles at Start-rite Shoes.

The device incorporates a tongue that is capable of extending up to 11m into a vehicle. At the push of a button, the height adjustment is varied to accommodate many different tailboard heights.

Safety features include grab handles, pop-out rollers, hydraulic burst valves and low voltage control gear.

The powered tongues are now 'plug and play' and can be replaced on site within minutes. The unit also has a fully self-levelling tongue arrangement, eliminating set-up time when changing between different types of vehicle.

Philip Daynes of Start-rite says "This newly designed machine is used on a daily basis and has considerably saved man hours and reduced health and safety risks within our warehouse."
