All round view

Brigade has strengthened its range of Backeye rear view CCTV systems with the introduction of the 800 series. Designed to be interchangeable and provide users with flexibility, all monitors can be matched with a camera to meet requirements.

Rear, forward and side view monitoring can be achieved, and the unit can display other navigation and monitoring equipment through the one monitor.

The series includes five colour TFT LCD flat screen monitors ranging in size from 3.5 to 6.8in. All are fitted with automatic image triggering.

The three cameras in the series include the compact BE-800C. It has infrared LEDs for low light performance and an integral microphone so that the driver can hear, as well as see, what is happening. The BE-810C is a shutter camera version of the BE-800C, while the BE- 820C is a mini camera that enables discrete fitting.

Lloyd Grey, marketing services manager, comments "The shutter camera is ideal for vehicles that are working in dirty environments and also for vehicles travelling at speed in wet conditions, when the vortex created behind the vehicle draws dirt and water onto the rear view mirrors and rearmounted camera, reducing rearward visibility.

"The shutter covers the lens until reverse gear is engaged. The lens is kept clean and the driver has a clear view of the 'blind' area behind when reversing, enhancing safety and cutting the collision risk."
