Registered Safety Supplier scheme launched
June 25th 2009

Triggered by an increase in counterfeit and illegal safety products entering the UK market, the BSIF launched its Registered Safety Supplier scheme last month. BSIF membership carries with it an obligation on companies to operate ethically when selling safety products and equipment and their membership can be rescinded if they breach this code.

The Registered Safety Supplier scheme takes these obligations a stage further. Companies will be required to make a binding declaration to confirm that their product offering complies with all the appropriate regulations. This declaration will be verified by periodic, random audits. The mission of this scheme is to ensure that the safety products being sold conform and are essentially "safe" to use.
