Combines eye and respiratory protection
April 1st 2006

Welders are exposed not only to the risk of eye damage from radiation and sparks, but from the inhalation of dangerous fumes.

Now, Optrel and Willson, part of the Bacou-Dalloz Group have developed the Optrel OS100 welding helmet to give the wearer allaround eye and respiratory protection while working.

Clean air is supplied to the helmet at a constant rate after being drawn through a particle filter with a fan, powered by a rechargeable battery. This constant air flow has a cooling effect on the head and prevents fogging.

For safety, there is an audible alarm and a visual alarm to alert the wearer if the air flow level drops. There are also alarms for low battery power or a clogged or missing filter.
