Breath of fresh air on campus
February 1st 2006 At the University of Edinburgh, certain applications within the campus require people to work with hazardous substances, some of which can be harmful if inhaled.
Respirators from 3M are used to protect people against the inhalation of airborne substances such as wood dust, welding fume and fibres released during asbestos sampling.
John Adamson, the University's hygiene and safety advisor, comments "Since the advent of compulsory face-fit testing for respirators that require a tight seal to the face to provide protection, the importance of the correct choice of respiratory protection and good fit has been reinforced. Now, all staff requiring such respirators at the University are being face-fit tested with the appropriate respirator - this being chosen in most cases from the extensive range of 3M RPE.
"When looking for the appropriate RPE, I know that the 3M respiratory help team is there for advice and guidance on the level of protection required and the products available."
