October 1st 2006 BuckHickman InOne has teamed up with Nederman UK to offer a free, on-site consultation service for dust and fume extraction. It will cover hazard analysis, a proposed extraction solution and advice about possible filtration of the hazard. Vince McParland of BuckHickman InOne says "Prolonged exposure to dust and fumes can cause allergic reactions and serious illnesses, ranging from asthma to cancer. Every business must monitor the levels of dust and fumes that employees are exposed to. You must make sure that adequate ventilation or extraction systems are in place and well maintained. "A full time welder, for instance, can collect up to 21g of particulate residue on his lungs per year." John Bullough of Nederman adds "New ATEX regulations have raised everyone's awareness of the danger of explosion from certain dusts and fumes.
