Coming to the rescue
August 1st 2005

The Fire Service is becoming reticent to undertake industrial rescues. A Fire Service rescuer who has little knowledge of a the site in which they are working faces increased risks. A rescuer employed and trained on site is a safer option for all concerned.

Abtech has launched the T3 work and rescue tripod.

Features of this Tripod make it adaptable to a range of work and rescue problems. Several fire services have already purchased this unit.

However it is designed to be part of a risk assessment that includes an internal rescue plan.

Three overhead pulleys allow the worker to access and egress the confined space. In a rescue situation the rescuer can use the Tripod. The pulleys take up to 11mm rope so a rescuer can be lowered double roped into the confined space. The rescuer will then attach the casualty to his harness and both can be raised.

Three fully tested optional under slung eyebolts may also be used for fall arrest, raising and lowering personnel or for hard line communications, air lines, medical or tool kits. Pulleys, mechanical prussic and automatic belay devices may be attached.
