Cuts the amount of oil mist carryover December 1st 2005 Many manufacturers use vacuum pumps in their production process and have them sited near to the production machine or in a purpose-built enclosure.
Many lubricated pumps contain oil-moist separators to remove or reduce the oil carryover that occurs when air is exhausted from the pump.
Separators are not there just to reduce oil top-up costs, but are a requirement of the HSE. Workplace Exposure Limits, shown in EH40/2004, state that exposure to oil mist must not exceed 5mg/m3 during an 8h TWA, and must not exceed 10mg/m3 during a 15min STEL.
Many businesses are shocked when they measure the breathable oil mist concentration near a worn or badly maintained lubricated vacuum pump.
Filterworld makes drop-in oil-mist separators to fit lubricated vacuum pumps.
Every element uses high efficiency media to reduce oil-mist carryover to a minimum. As well as reducing oil carryover, the separators could help to cut maintenance costs. More articles from Filterworld Limited: |
